Generation 05: Chapter 03

Dear Diary,

I feel like my life has just been turned upside down.

As you may recall a social worker showed up at my house to inform me that I have a daughter named India. India is named after India Wilkes from Gone with the Wind.

“Why are you here telling me this? Why didn’t Crystal inform me? Where is Crystal? Are you here because Crystal wants child support?” I asked. “If I do have a daughter with Crystal of course I will provide for her. Crystal didn’t need to send you. She could have just told me.”

“I am here because we have removed India from Crystal’s care.”

“WHAT!!! WHY?!?!?!”

“What you failed to learn about Crystal was that she has the Hates Children trait,” the social worker said.

“She was FURIOUS when she found out she was pregnant. Why she didn’t give you India right away or put her up for adoption we have no idea.”

“We warned Crystal several times that India would take away because she was left to go hungry.”

I went by to check on India today and found her asleep on a messy floor, with her hygiene, hunger, social, fun, energy levels all in the red. The only one not in the red was bladder and that was because she had went in her diaper.

“I informed Crystal that this was the final straw. She was loosing custody of India. She didn’t care and said India could be put up for adoption or sent to live with her father whose name was Drew Bennett, a police office living in San Myshuno.

She provided India’s birth certificate which lists a Drew Bennett as the father.

“Poor little India just cried and cried for her mother. She was so scared.”

“Crystal just sat there watching television while I carried India away.”

“As soon as I got outside I looked you up online and found your address. Here we are.”

That is when I noticed that the social worker wasn’t alone. She had a very sad and smelly toddler with her. Could this really be my daughter?

I bent down to comfort her but she pushed me away. I don’t know if I am her father or not but my heart breaks for her.

The social worker left India with me but said she would check in later. After she left I managed to change India’s diaper.

And gave her a bath.

I then made us some pancakes and put on cartoons to watch while we ate.

India was so exhausted she fell asleep on the couch.

Not knowing what else to do, I called my sisters and asked them to come over. As soon as they arrived I filled them in on the situation.

“Given your serial romantic aspiration and the number of girlfriends you have had, I am actually surprised this is the first child you are finding out about,” Dany said.

“Hahaha! Very funny,” I said. “I don’t know what to do? I don’t have clothes, toys, or anything a toddler needs. I don’t even have a real bed for her to sleep in.”

“Leave everything to us,” Dorothy said.

While my sisters handled things at the apartment I snuck off to the police station to run a quick DNA test. The results were a 100% match. India is my daughter. I can’t believe I am a father.
