Generation 04: Chapter 01

Dear Diary,

Mom has moved in with Robb and Lydia to be closer to her grandson Deon. That leaves just Dinah and I in this big house by ourselves. I know mom was worried I would be lonely but as a loner sim I enjoy the peace and quiet. I have already completed my first children’s story. As a teacher I know how important it is for kids to have books they enjoy reading.

When I am not writing I am busy grading my student’s homework assignments.

And tending to the family garden.

Despite being a loner sim I do love my family and enjoy spending time with them. So when mom called and invited me to the Flea Market in San Myshuno I couldn’t say no. It was great seeing her and my brothers.

We spent time talking and catching up.

As a music lover, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try out the Karaoke machine.

I also met someone. His name is Rory Rivers and I think he is so dreamy. I also love how our names sound together – Rilla and Rory.

We spent some time talking and flirting.

Sadly our family outing came to an early end when mom got the call that her cousin Thaddeus Kibo had died.

Dear Diary,

My writing has been going really well.

I reached level four in the writing skill and published my second children’s book.

Speaking of children, I got a call from Robb this morning letting me know that he is now the father of twins Natalia and Leo.

Their mother Lucy is NOT Robb’s wife. In fact, Robb is married to Lucy’s sister Lydia. If you recall Robb is a serial romantic and dated Lydia, Lucy and several other girls while in high school. When he became a young adult he realized he loved Lydia, proposed, the two got married and had son Deon. But I guess old habits die hard and Robb cheated on Lydia with Lucy. Lucy also happens to be a serial romantic.

“Does Lydia know?” I asked.

“No and please don’t tell her,” he said.

“Lucy is her sister. What did Lucy say when Lydia asked who the twin’s father was?”

“Lucy just told her it was a one night stand, which is technically true. Look I love Lydia and never wanted to cheat on her. I shouldn’t make excuses but the whims got the best of me. I promise it will never happen again. Just please don’t tell her.”

“Why did you tell me?”

“Because they are my kids – your niece and nephew. I will probably never get to be their father but I wanted to tell someone.”

“I really think you should tell Lydia, but it’s your life. I promise I won’t say anything.”

While I know I need to write as many books as possible during my time as family heir, I just can’t sit at the computer all day. I decided to try my hand at knitting. I find it very relaxing.

As a teaching I need to research a lot of different subjects and also work on my debating skills.

Of course I make sure to spend time each day playing with Dinah.

I also make frequent trips to Robb’s house to see mom and my nephew Deon. I can’t believe how big he is getting. We have fun playing.

As a teacher I also can’t resist spending time teaching Deon his colors, shapes, numbers and letters. I always have my flashcards at the ready.

As the family heiress it is also my job to host all the family holiday gatherings. I am not the best cook yet but I still managed to make the Winterfest Ham.

The family all gathered around the table to eat.

Then we decorated the tree.

Before opening presents.

Then we all gathered downstairs for a dance party. It was a really fun day.

Dear Diary,

Things are going so well for me write now.

For starters, I earned my first promotion. I am now a mentor teacher.

I also published my third children’s book.

And best of all Rory called and asked me on a date.

We met at a restaurant in San Myshuno. As far as dates go it couldn’t have gone better.

While we ate we talked and really got to know each other. Rory is a freelance author so we spent time talking about our writing. He also told me was divorced and had two daughters.

“Being a freelance writer means I can set my own hours. It is great because I get to be there for my girls. I never miss one of their sporting events, school plays or dance recitals.”

We stayed long after our plates had been cleared talking and flirting.

I never thought I would be one to kiss on the first date but as we left the restaurant I couldn’t help but pull Rory in for a kiss.

A few nights later, I invited Rory over to my house. I cooked him dinner and then we decided to take a late night dip in the hot tub.

“I know this is only our second date but I don’t want to wait to be with you,” I whispered in his ear.

I think he was surprised at first.

But he quickly pulled me towards him and we proceeded to woohoo in the hot tub under a beautiful star filled sky. It was a magical first time.

A few weeks later I noticed I was feeling nauseous.

I took a pregnancy test and crossed my fingers hoping it was positive. I have always wanted children of my own and I know that Rory is a great father to his two girls.

The test was positive. I am eating for two.

I couldn’t tell Rory that I was pregnant over the phone. I needed to do it in person. I found Rory’s address online and made my way to his house.

I was surprised to find a very pregnant woman answer the door.

“Can I help you?” she asked.

“I am looking for Rory,” I said.

“He isn’t home right now. Can I help you?”

Before I could respond I heard someone yell from inside the house, “MOM! HAVE YOU SEEN MY SCOUTS UNIFORM!”

“Oh, you must be Rory’s ex-wife,” I said.

“EX-WIFE!?!?!?! Rory and I are still married. Did he tell you we were divorced?”

Just then Rory walked up the drive. His wife immediately made started slapping him.

“YOU TOLD HER I WAS YOUR EX-WIFE!!! WELL THAT CAN BE ARRANGED!!”

The two started arguing while I stood their shocked.

Rory’s wife stormed into the house slamming the door behind her.

“Rilly what are you doing here? How did you find out where I live?” he asked.

“How could you ask me out on a date? How could you tell you me you were divorced? I trusted you! I came here to tell you that I’m pregnant with your child.”

Rory didn’t say anything. He just turned and walked back to the house.

I went home and immediately called my mom. When she got there I bust into tears and fell into her arms.

“Oh mom what I am going to do,” I cried.
